Draft Day 2009

Ok, missed a day, it will happen. Last night we had a bunch of people over for steaks and such. Not sure how many, but we had a full house. I still have this cold and for some reason, could not talk, or at least very loud. Froggy voice. Has never happened before.

Fred and Phyliss left today. Played tennis this morning. We won our match and we took four points today, we are in the playoffs next week. Feels good to win, although, it was hot as hell and I was sucking wind. Gotta get into shape. I will, now I have time.

Watching the draft right now. Waiting on the Packers pick. Have Steak and Cigar tonight at the Clubhouse. Have not gone for while, will be fun.

A Long Night

Jusst got back from taking Megan and her friend, Briana, to Nickelback. Just took them and picked them up. My Uncle Fred and Aunt Phyliss are here from Wisconsin for a few days on their way to visit their daughter, Nicole, in Savannah. Good to see them. Growing up, Fred was an inspiration to me (first person on my Dad's side to go and graduate from college), he was an CPA and the reason I went to school in accounting and became a CPA is because of my uncle Fred.

Not much happened at work today, other than releasing an employee. New temp starts tomorrow. Hopefully she will be good, we will see.

What the Hell?

What in God's name is going on? Or as my Dad would say, "What the Hell" And who is this Susan Boyle anyway?

This guy from Freddie Mac who killed himself, does not smell right. Something else will come out. And sometimes torture is necessary, screw you Shepard Smith. And I have not watched lately (like to hear both sides), Keith Olberman I am sure is going nuts. Of course Huffington has a big headline on how Rice and Cheney supported waterboarding, duh. Drudge did not have much.

I want a Snuggie. I heard they may have a Green Bay Packer one. Which reminds me the draft is Saturday during prime time I believe, first two rounds anyway. Have Steak and Cigar night in the hood, but there will probably be TV there. Plus I got my Blackberry.

Good day at work today. Got a couple of big things done. Couple of new clients, which is always good. We are upgrading our admin person, Accountemps came and checked us out, toured the office and giving us someone for free on Friday. If we dont't like, we get someone else, we pay the agency for 90 days and then we can hire. Good way to try people out. A resume and interview dont really tell you much, let someone else do that.

Christine stained the bookcase that Marc made. She is a handy little diva, also mounted my flat screen TV the other day. Love having TV at the office. NFL Network and MLB network on mine, Fox or CNN or Spongebob if kids are there, in the waiting room. Gracie went to play at her cousins. Shout out to my nephew Ethan, start your blog back up and twitter too. You can do it as text messages.

Megs and her friends may be going to Nickelback tomorrow at Lakewood. Will know in the morning if we have tickets on Barter. If she goes, may take her with Fred (my Uncle and Aunt are coming to visit for a few days) and just hang out downtown until its time to pick them up. When I went to Monkey Joes with Grace on Sunday, I happened to talk to the owner/manger about hiring kids, got an application, talked to her about Megan. I texted Megan and she said she did not want to work there. We should make her. Tennis is done she could get a job and should want to get a job. She has applied at a daycare, Young Life, where her aunt works, but is not following up. You dont wait for them to call you, call them. Of course, I bug her about it every day

Going to go work on hooking up a computer to my big screen so I can surf the net.

Day 1

Ok, first day of the blog. Not sure if I will keep it up, but will give it a shot. This will be a place than I will ocassionally give my opinion, thoughts and observations about anything and everything I can think of. We will see how it goes

Now that the 15th is over, work is more relaxed, but still lots to do. Have to keep those billings up. Feel in control though.

Saw the Green Bay Packers schedule online and they should almost win out at home and win three our four games on the road, 11-5, playoffs, maybe SuperBowl if they get lucky

Had a good meeting today with a guy from the hood about internet strategy. Some good ideas concerning client retention and finding some billing opps. Also got up early to attend a Business Networking Group. My chiro, Dr. Ed, kept asking me to go, finally I went, was something I might consider. I was a big hit being a CPA, everyone wanted to see me. Might join although it is a little pricey. We have been lucky with growing the business from referrals, word of mouth, but this group is aggressive, accountable and passionate, so may be worth it.

Thats it for now. Off to watch some TV, sleeping in for a little bit tomorrow.
